The lines
A lineage is the set of descendants of a founding stallion of the lineage. The decision to create a line is taken by those in charge of the Stud-Book when they consider that a standard has characteristics particularly typed and that its already known progeny also has these characteristics.
The line is transmitted by the fathers: the stallion transmits its lineage to all its products. Thus, in order to define the lineage of a horse of which one knows the pedigree, one goes back the generations by the fathers, until finding a founder of lineage.
The lineage list is scalable, depending on the decisions made by the MAAK. If the type of the lineage leader has faded and the number of products of this lineage is gradually reduced by the breeders, the lineage may disappear. On the contrary, when a standard has the characteristics of a founder, a new line can be created.
The question that can arise is how is it possible to find in a TA certain characteristics of the founder of the line that has been dead for many years, characteristics that would have been transmitted and maintained through several generations, Contribution of maternal bloodlines? And why would paternal characteristics mark more offspring than maternal characteristics? This shows the limitations of the concept of "lines".
Despite its limitations, it is not as possible for the amateur as for the breeder of akhal-teke to ignore these lines.
The current lines are inherited from three stallions: BOINOU (1885-1908), SULTAN GULI (born about 1910), TCHOPAR KEL (born around 1900).
The lines currently in decline are the lines AK BELEK, AK SAKAL, DOR BAIRAM.
The developing lines are the POSMAN lines (especially the descendants of the GAIGISYZ stallion) and SOVKHOZ 2.
